Gaio® tagatose is low calorie, stimulates butyrate and has no glycemic effect
Gaio® tagatose is an alternative to or complementary with the polyols (sugar alcohols) and fibres. Gaio® tagatose is similar to the polyols in having a low caloric value and toothfriendly properties. However, Gaio® tagatose is unique in having no glycemic response. With great taste and high functionality, Gaio® tagatose can improve quality of a range of functional foods.
As an additional benefit, Gaio® tagatose selectively promotes the production of butyrate and lactic acid bacteria. Being pH stable in acidic applications enables use in e.g. beverages and yogurts.
